John
A. Chambers is the Managing Partner of Isler &
Co., L.L.C., the largest locally-owned accounting firm
based exclusively in Oregon. He is only the third
managing partner in the firm's long history, replacing
D. Bruce Butler. The first managing partner was the
firm founder, Robert F. Isler. An Oregon native, John
joined Isler in 1971, and now directs the firm's
offices in Portland, Eugene, Medford, and Klamath
Falls.
In
addition to his expertise as an advisor in tax and
business planning, John is also recognized nationally
as a leader in the area of practice continuation
planning and is a consultant to accounting firms
throughout North America. His experience in practice
continuation planning has resulted in several articles
that have appeared in national publications including:
The Practical Accountant, November 1994, The
Practicing CPA, April 1994. He is also a
well-known speaker and a writer for many of Oregon's
business publications. Some of these include:
"How to Survive an Audit," a feature story
in The Oregonian; "You Can Remain
Locally-Owned," Oregon Business Magazine;
and "Standby® Agreements," Daily Journal
of Commerce. John has also appeared as a featured
Newsmaker on KPTV Channel 12 and as a special guest on
KATU Channel 2's Town Hall.
John is
married with five children and is active in a variety
of professional, civic, and church organizations
including the Doernbecher Children's Hospital
Foundation, as a mentor/ leader of the Capital
Campaign Committee, and the National Coalition for the
Protection of Children and Families, where he also
holds a leadership position. He is also an avid hiker,
backpacker, and mountain climber.
